Burntisland: A Community Portrait

Objective:

The objective of this competition is to inspire community pride and participation by inviting residents to capture photographs that reflect the heart of Burntisland—its people, places, everyday moments, and unique character. Through this shared creative project, we aim to bring the community together, celebrate the town’s diversity and spirit, and build a collective visual story that showcases what makes Burntisland a special place to live, work, and visit.

Submission Guidelines:

  1.  Only BCDT members can submit pictures for the competition, but anyone who lives or works in Burntisland can become a member for free.
  2. Each member can submit one photograph per category in a maximum of two Categories.
  3. Entries must be original works and captured within the Burntisland area.
  4. High-resolution images are encouraged for better quality in print and exhibition.
  5. If your picture has an indentifiable person, you should obtain consent from the subject before submission

Timeline:

  • Promotion Period: Promotion starting in January 2026
  • Submission Period: Open until 19th April 2026
  • Judging Period: The BCDT Members will vote on each category based on creativity, composition, and adherence to the theme. Vote will take place over a period of 2 weeks in April 2026.
  • Winners Announcement: Winners will be announced one week after the voting deadline.

Prizes:

  • £50 cash prize will be given to the 1st place of each category
  • £30 cash prize will be given to the 2nd place of each category
  • £20 cash prize will be given to the 3rd place of each category
  • £50 cash prize will be given to the 1st place overall

Exhibition: The winning entries will be displayed in a public exhibition.

How to Participate:

  1. Fill the form below to register interest and submit a photo you have taken as your application.
  2. We will confirm your place on the competition by the end of March 2026.
